When it comes time to grade the science notebooks, students should print out the grading sheets and use them as a "check list", to make sure that all assignments are complete. Students will be using Interactive Science Notebooks (ISN's) this year. All of their class work, homework, labs and activities, along with class discussions and notes will be kept in their notebook. A table of contents is kept on the board in class, so that students are aware of the assignments that are expected to be in their journals. I also keep a current copy of the table of contents on my Ralston Homework Website (6th grade Earth Science page). Grades for quizzes and tests will be kept separate from the notebook grades. There may be one or two projects that students will be required to do throughout the school year. These grades will also be kept separate from the notebook grades. Students are required to keep their science notebooks in their school binders, so that parents can check their child's work at home on a regular basis. Each time the notebooks are graded (every 2-3 weeks), a parent signature is required.
