Get to Know Your Counselors

6th Grade: Rachel Parker, M.Ed., PPSC

Rachel Parker

I am so excited to be the 6th grade counselor for the 2020-2021 school year! I have been a school counselor for about 7 years. This past year, I was in San Carlos School District, where I was an elementary school counselor. I have also had the opportunity to be a counselor at the middle school and high school levels in Southern California and then at a middle school in San Francisco, and I am happy to be back with middle schoolers! My hope for this year is that we will be able to form a comprehensive counseling team that will address the needs of all students and prioritize the mental health of the students so that they will feel supported and valued. I have three kids (identical twin 7 year old girls and a 10 year old son) and I love to spend time with them, my husband, and our two dogs, a mini dachshund and a beagle. I can't wait to begin working with the 8th graders this year!

School Counselor
7th Grade: Jenifer Heck, M.ED., PPSC

Jennifer Heck

I am beginning my second year at RMS and I am ready to help our 7th grade students successfully handle middle school. I recently relocated to the Bay Area from Fresno where I was born and raised. I have worked in education for 20+ years having held positions ranging from college, high school and middle school levels. I am passionate about junior high as I see it as the perfect age to assist young scholars in developing good habits to help lay the foundations for success. I attended UC Santa Barbara, earned a degree in Law and Society and though I planned on attending law school, I felt called to work as a counselor. I began my career as a high school ELD teacher and Coordinator and went on to earn my Masters in Educational Counseling with a PPS credential. I have a 19 year old daughter named Katherine and a supportive extended family in Fresno and Baja, Mexico. We enjoy snow skiing, traveling to the family beach house in Mexico, crafting and DIY projects.

8th Grade: Lauren Rocha, M.A., PPSC

Hello Ralston Rams! I am ecstatic to be part of your team this year and excited to continue in my second year as Ralston's school counselor. One of my biggest passions is supporting student mental health and working on initiatives that reduce the stigma around mental health that many people face. I will be supporting all 8th grade students during the 2020-2021 year. During my free time I love to exercise, camp, and try new foods. My family is a big part of my life and I enjoy spending time traveling with them when I can. I grew up on a farm in Hilmar, California and would love to tell you more about it when we meet in person. Wishing you the best school year!
