Basketball Shoot-Out
Location: Indoor basketball gym
1:00pm - 3:00pm. You will be assigned a specific start time for your turn. You need to be at the location and ready when your name is called.
What to bring:
Wear comfortable clothing and rubber-soled sneakers.
Nothing else needed. Do not bring your own basketball.
Where to meet:
Sit on the bleachers near center court and wait for your name to be called.
Event Format:
You will be shooting on one of the two baskets on the main basketball court.
You will get five shots from each of five locations (25 shots total).
Each made shot is worth one point.
Your overall ranking will be determined by how many points you score.
You will also be timed on how long it takes to complete your round. In case of tie, the participant taking less time will win via tiebreaker.
Rules:
During your round, you will be allowed 45 seconds to take a few warm-up shots, before the scoring round begins.
Dads will use standard 29.5” NBA regulation basketballs. Moms and students can choose between 28.5” or 29.5” basketballs.
You can choose which side of the basket you want to start from.
You will shoot five basketballs from each of five stations on the floor. As you complete each station, you will move onto the next station in clockwise or counter-clockwise form, depending on which baseline you start from.
Adults will shoot from behind the 3-point line. Students will shoot 18 inches closer from the 3-point line.
If any part of your shoe is on the line when you start your shot, the shot is scored as a miss, regardless of whether it goes in. You can, however, land on or in front of the line after you have released your shot.
After you have completed your round, you must stay for the next round to rebound shots for the next participant. If you do not do this, you will be disqualified and your score will not count.
